About us. The Green & Independent Alliance Group . Why have the GIA?

At the May 24 election the Green & Independent Alliance Group had  groundbreaking results to achieve a collective 14 seats within the Maidstone Borough. This comprised of 10 Green Councillors and 4 Independent Cllrs. Remarkably this formed the largest group on the council and after much discussion agreed to enter a partnership with the second largest group the Liberal Democrats and take on the role and responsability of running Maidstone Borough Council. Given  the GIA was only formed in 2023 this is staggering.
