Brief personal bio...

Janetta Sams.

I was born in Blackburn and moved to Gravesend with my parents where my dad was a teacher, my mum worked eventually for Oxfam.

I have lived in Harrietsham since leaving polytechnic and living with Tom and his mum in 1984. Following the birth of our two daughters Rosa and Lara we decided to persue a fostering career with KCC and this we did for 22 years until 2020. I am now a grandparent and enjoy being with them when able. (they live in the US). My hobbies include playing music, bass guitar, with our band Sixpenny Piece, growing vegetables and generally enjoying our family time together. Whilst our children and our foster children were younger I was involved with Harrietsham PTA and Harrietsham Playscheme for more than 20 years. I have been on Harrietsham Parish Council since 2003. I am extremely proud to have been elected as a Borough Councillor for Harrietsham and Lenham Ward for more than 14 years, I  have been fortunate to keep good health and able to enjoy running,  which helps at leafleting time!

Brief personal bio..Tom sams

Born in Kent, my family moved to Harrietsham where I began my schooling at the village primary school. Living on the North Downs, Hogbarn Lane, I was lucky to have a very happy childhood. I attended Swadelands school, and eventually left to work at Leeds castle golf course, before working  at Lenham ironmongers. It was at that point we began a family. With Janetta our fostering family journey led us to when we finished supporting 5 boys!  All bar one have grown up to persue their own journeys. I have learnt that, family are not

always blood related.

I was able to enjoy playing football locally  for Leeds and then Lenham Wanderers until I was 45 before  the knees gave up! I enjoy playing guitar, singing, and walking our dogs. I have been a  Harrietsham Parish Councillor for 24 years, and a Borough Councillor for more than 25 years. It  has given me such pleasure .

It is lovely and shows youv'e been round the block a few times, when you meet the grandchildren of the people you went to school with!!
